On the Road again

September 10, 2014
Scenic Park Campground
South Sioux City, Nebraska

We are back to traveling again after a stay in Rochester.  It was great to be able to spend so much time visiting with friends and family but the pace was hectic and a rest is welcomed.

We are staying in a nice city campground right on the Missouri River.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't as nice.  The high today was in the 50s with grey skies and strong winds.  I think it is time to head south.

Can you tell this is a river town?  This is the Welcome Center with a riverboat museum on the second deck

We visited an excellent Lewis and Clark Museum on the Iowa side of the river.  This was a stop on their journey and also where the only member of the expedition died.

Sergeant Floyd was buried on a high bluff overlooking the river.  His grave was later moved back from the river a few hundred feet after part of the bluff collapsed revealing his coffin.

I think he has a very nice view.

  1. Your wind has arrived here in Indiana. And your cold arrives tomorrow. Definitely time to head south. But we have to get to Virginia first.
